Review
Snowed Over
by Angie Stanton

First sentence:
Each gust of wind shot tiny shards of sleet at Katie Brandt's already frozen face.

Summary:
To college student, Katie Brandt, ‘Home for the Holidays’ sounds like hell. When her parents separated, their holiday traditions shattered like a dropped ornament. What could be worse than celebrating Christmas with her suddenly single mom and mom’s new boyfriend?

Alex Walker, an engaged 20-year-old, dreads going home for his own reasons. He has a daunting task ahead of him and wishes he could skip the holidays altogether. So when a friend of a friend needs a ride north, Alex finds that having beautiful Katie seated by his side proves to be just the distraction he needs.

A simple ride home for Christmas turns into a nightmare when light snow rages into a full-scale blizzard. Katie and Alex find themselves stranded, and a vacant cabin becomes a haven from the storm.
Under different circumstances, time alone with Alex would be the ultimate Christmas gift, but Katie knows Alex is engaged and she must hide her growing attraction.

However, Alex harbors a secret that just might change this holiday from the worst Christmas ever, to the best.

My opinion:
Snowed Over is a novella telling the story of Katie and Alex's not so perfect Christmas. Angie Stanton jumps right into the story and does not waste time telling us background information about the characters which I personally really enjoyed. While reading you get to know Katie and Alex well and gather information about their backgrounds on the way.

I especially liked Katie. She is a college student who really doesn't want to go “home” for the holidays since her parents are freshly seperated and her mum never told her or her sisters what really happened between her and Katie's dad and not only that her dad's missing this Christmas, her mum also forces her to spend the holidays with her new boyfriend. Katie doesn't hide her feelings against her mum and her new boyfriend and that makes her so real.

A huge snowstorm forces Katie and Alex to find shelter in an abandoned hut and make the best of their situation.

Snowed Over was way more than a fun, entertaining Christmas novella. It dealt with loss, betrayal, trusting a stranger and concentrated on the really important things about Christmas.

If you are looking for a Christmassy read that is not like any other, try Snowed Over by Angie Stanton.
