Review
Double Crossed
by Ally Carter

Double Crossed is book 5.5 in the Gallagher Girl series
and book 2.5 in the Heist Society series!
I highly recommend reading at least the first two books in the Heist Society series first.
Otherwise you will spoil yourself!

First sentence:
Situated on the upper east side with a glorious view of the park, the Athenia Hotel was supposed to be some kind of Olympus, high in the clouds above the mere mortals, a place for playing and drinking and dancing like gods.

Summary:
Macey McHenry—Glamorous society girl or spy-in-training?
W.W. Hale V—Heir to an American dynasty or master thief?

There are two sides to every coin. Whether these two can work together is a tossup.
Born into privilege, Macey and Hale are experts at mingling with the upper class. But even if they’ve never raised an eyebrow at the glitz, neither teenager has ever felt at home with the glamour.

When Macey and Hale meet at a society gala, the party takes a dangerous turn. Suddenly they’re at the center of a hostage situation, and it’s up to them to stop the thugs from becoming hostile. Will Macey’s spy skills and Hale’s con-man ways be enough to outsmart a ruthless gang? Or will they have to seek out the ultimate inside girl to help?

The worlds of Heist Society and the Gallagher Girls collide in Ally Carter’s fast-paced, high-stakes and tantalizing new story. Get a behind the scenes glimpse as Ally delivers an irresistible thriller that is full of her signature style and savvy twists.

My opinion:
A short story where the characters of the Heist Society novels and those from the Gallagher Girl series meet – how cool is that!

W. W. Hale the Fifth from Kat Bishop's crew of thiefs and Macey McHenry, master spy, come from similar family backgrounds and meet at a function. Unfortunately the party ends with a mugging where hostages are taken. Hale and Macey have to work together to end the situation without risking the lives of the hostages.

Mixing those two worlds was a fabulous idea of Ally Carter and I really enjoyed seeing how the two different parties tried solving the situation and how these worlds worked together.

The characters are amazing as always and Ally's writing style really appeals to me. If you enjoyed Ally's books read Double Crossed – it is a really entertaining short story.

The books in the Heist Society series are:
  • Heist Society (read my review here)
  • Uncommon Criminals (read my review here)
  • Perfect Scoundrels
  • Double Crossed (short story combining her two series)
Ally Carter also wrote the amazing Gallagher Girls series about an all girl spy school which I can highly recommend as well.
